 My name is Mike Sloan, an avid fisherman with a lifelong passion for everything fishing. Whether casting from riverbanks, canoes, or small boats, fishing has been my way to connect with nature, find adventure, and create lasting memories.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to take this passion to exciting new levels. In 2015, I dove into bass tournaments as a co-angler, a journey that tested my skills and rewarded me with unforgettable experiences. Highlights include being named Co-Angler of the Year in 2015 and 2016, placing first at the Canadian Open in 2017 as a Co-Angler, and qualifying for Team Ontario in 2019. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the most talented anglers in Canada, refining my techniques, and blending modern innovations with time-honored methods.

But fishing isn’t just about trophies or techniques—it’s about the simple joy of being outdoors. It’s about the thrill of exploration, the serenity of a river at sunrise, or the laughter shared over a game of frisbee with your kids and neighbors when they become bored of casting! :)  It’s about cooking a meal over an open fire in a cast-iron pan, creating unforgettable moments that connect us to the natural world.

That’s why I created Reel Fly Productions:  to share what I’ve learned and help anyone—from experts to complete beginners—discover the magic of fishing and the great outdoors. Through tips, gear recommendations, creative ideas, and inspiration, I aim to show that embracing an outdoor lifestyle is for everyone, no matter your experience or budget. 

This goes beyond fishing, I believe in the joy and simplicity of the outdoors—playing a game of Frisbee with your kids, trying out cast iron cooking over an open fire, or just taking in the beauty of nature. These moments are for everyone, regardless of budget or experience.
